Hi! I’m Britt — sewist, sewing educator, and the hands behind By Hand Studio in Riverton, Utah. I believe sewing should be fun, approachable, and fulfilling for everyone.

I can sew anything I need, and sew can you!

I specialize in apparel sewing and fit — helping you create clothes that fit your body (no more settling for almost-right!). Whether you’re brand new to sewing or ready to level up, I’m here to guide you with patience, enthusiasm, and plenty of cheering along the way.

My love of sewing started early, thanks to my mom and grandma— both skilled sewists who taught me the joy of creating something with your own hands.  I sewed my way through grade school,  high school and university.  My favorite jobs had been working in fabric stores, plus size fashion stores, and selling sewing machines, sergers and embroidery machines.  Next, I decided to return to school for Technical Fashion Design where my love of textiles, fashion and technique development was further fed. 

Sewing has been woven through every stage of my life and it has followed me from Canada to the U.S., connecting me with creative, inspiring people everywhere I’ve lived — and now, I get to build that same community right here.
